GTA 6 Pre-Orders Could Open On May 18 After Best Buy Email Leaks

Grand Theft Auto 6 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of the decade. The game is currently set to launch on November 19, but Rockstar Games has so far stayed quiet about many important details, especially the pre-order date and the game’s final price. Now however, a major leak may have finally revealed when fans will be able to pre-order the game.

The leak started after several users reported receiving an unexpected affiliate marketing email connected to Best Buy, one of the biggest electronics retailers in the United States, which appears to have been sent early by mistake. The campaign mentioned in the email runs from May 18 to May 21, and specifically talks about “GTA 6 Pre-Order (Physical Game)” with a 5% commission for affiliate partners on online sales.

Rockstar Games still has not officially revealed the final price for GTA 6.

YouTuber FrogboyX1Gaming was one of the first people to share the leak publicly and verified the email live during a stream. After that, more users on Reddit claimed they had received the exact same message through affiliate accounts. Since then, many industry sites are corroborating the information to be true.

The timing of the leak is especially interesting because the pre-order campaign reportedly ends on May 21, the same day Take-Two Interactive is set to hold its major financial results call, which might be the perfect moment for the company to show off huge early GTA 6 pre-order numbers.

Considering all of this, the chances of GTA 6 getting delayed again finally seem much less likely. Still, as exciting as these leaks may sound, it is important to take everything with a pinch of salt until Rockstar Games officially confirms the information and pre-orders go live. As more news and rumors emerge, we’ll make sure to keep you in the know here at GameObserver.

In other news, GTA 6 may have already cost up to $1.5 billion to develop, with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick calling the project “expensive.”
