Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is celebrating its first anniversary, and Sandfall Interactive is marking the moment with a free content update and a special Steam discount. The French RPG originally launched on April 24 last year, and since then it has earned “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews from players. It has also won Game of the Year at several award shows, including the recent BAFTA awards and our own GameObserver awards.
The new Update 1.5.5 brings free anniversary content for all players. The biggest addition is new hairstyles for all the main expedition members: Gustave, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, Verso, and Monoco. These new looks can be purchased from in-game merchants. Gustave’s hairstyle is available near Stone Wave Cliffs, while the hairstyles for the other characters can be found near Grosse Tête on the world map.

In addition, Sandfall Interactive released new official artwork for the anniversary, which you can see above. It shows the main cast with their new anniversary hairstyles.
The update also includes multiple bug fixes and general improvements. It fixes an issue where Lune and Sciel’s Danseuse outfit made the character menu too dark, solves bugs that stopped players from opening rest points during active world dialogue, and corrects several collision problems in different areas. Some achievement descriptions were also adjusted again so they better match the correct objectives.
Along with the free update, the game is also getting a limited-time 20% discount on Steam. This drops the price from $49.99 to $39.99, and the offer will remain available until April 30. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S do not have a discount at the moment, but Xbox users can still access the game through Game Pass. The update is live on all supported platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S. For more Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 related coverage, keep checking GameObserver.
