Monster Hunter World is still going strong, and Capcom now has another huge reason to celebrate. The company has confirmed that Monster Hunter World has officially passed 30 million copies sold worldwide, making it Capcom’s best-selling game ever.
The number is even more impressive because the 2018 action-RPG had already reached 25 million copies sold in 2024. This means it has sold another five million units in just the last two years. Even eight years after its launch, Monster Hunter World is still pulling in many players. Regular discounts, strong long-term interest, and its robust endgame have helped the game stay popular for a long time. It’s worth noting that the total figure includes sales of the base game and the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition bundle.

The success also gives the full Monster Hunter series another major milestone. With World passing 30 million, the franchise has now reached 127 million units shipped worldwide. That means Monster Hunter World alone makes up almost a quarter of the series’ total lifetime sales.
What makes the achievement even more notable is that Capcom has released two major entries since World debuted in 2018: Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Wilds. Despite the arrival of newer games, World has continued to attract players and maintain strong sales year after year. Its popularity was further boosted by the release of the Iceborne expansion, which helped make it even bigger by adding much more content. Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Wilds also enjoyed a record-breaking launch, selling more than eight million copies during its opening weekend. However, its sales slowed over the following year due to performance-related issues.
In other Capcom news, the company has officially confirmed that it is considering turning the newly launched sci-fi adventure Pragmata into an ongoing franchise.
