After the rocky launch of the Steam Controller, which sold out in around 30 minutes and later appeared on third-party websites for up to $400, Valve is now dealing with shipping delays and mix-ups with the new controller. To make up for the issue, the company is reportedly offering affected users a free Steam game of their choice.
This information comes from Reddit user hvhhggggh, who received a message from Steam Support after the shipment of his Steam Controller was delayed. According to the message, Valve told the customer, “Please pick any standard-edition title available for purchase in your region and reply here with your selection.” The user later revealed that he got Forza Horizon 6 for free.

Steam explained that the delay happened because a small number of Steam Controller packages were “accidentally sent to the UK,” which caused delivery problems for some customers who had pre-ordered or reserved the controller. They also said the shipping company is now working to send the packages to the correct destinations.
At the moment, it is not clear how many users are affected or how many received the free game offer to make up for the delay, but it is great to see Valve quickly contacting affected customers and offering compensation for the shipping problem.
As mentioned earlier, the Steam Controller had major stock problems after launching on May 4. The controller sold out almost immediately, which also led to many resellers putting it online for higher prices. However, to help stop this, Valve created a strict one-unit reservation system. Buyers also need to have a Steam account in good standing with a purchase history before April 27.
