Dead By Daylight Update Finally Delivers A Decade-Old Community Request

The latest Dead by Daylight update is here, as the Bloodbound season begins. The new content drop includes some major new content additions, with an entire Rift Pass in collaboration with Darkest Dungeon, the return of 2v8 with Attack on Titan theming and even new Alien cosmetics for survivors.

Perhaps one of the biggest stories from this update isn’t regarding the new content, but a major gameplay change that will make matches considerably more balanced for Survivors. Available now for all players, Survivors can now see each other’s perks whilst in game. Additionally, they will also be able to see the identity of the Killer and their powers once triggered by certain events.

The new information available to all Survivors will make gameplay decision-making easier.

The Killer’s identity gets revealed once either the first chase begins or a Survivor loses a health state, whichever happens first. This change bridges the gap between playing as a solo player and playing with your friends, because those who play whilst talking to their friends have a gameplay benefit in being able to inform their fellow Survivors which perks they’re running and who the Killer is. Today’s update makes that information available to all players, and with it solo play becomes less disadvantageous compared to surviving with friends.

Today’s 9.6.0 patch also adds the option to play Survivor games whilst queuing for as Killer, a Diminishing Returns system that reduces the effectiveness of both positive and negative gameplay modifiers when stacked, along with changes to the progress bar animation. There are also nerfs to the Blight, along with buffs to The Doctor, The Cannibal, The Ghost Face, The Demogorgon, The Dredge, The Mastermind and The Animatronic. Minor gameplay tweaks were also given The Skull Merchant and The Unknown.

Today’s Bloodbound update includes new cosmetics, such as Aliens character William Hudson.

That’s everything big included in today’s major Dead by Daylight update! Be sure to check the patch notes for more specifics. The next big update will celebrate Dead by Daylight‘s 10th anniversary, as the developers commit to supporting the game for years to come without feeling the need for a sequel.
