Elementallis is the first game from the developers at Ankae Games, having launched on PC, Switch and Switch 2, Xbox One, and Series X|S, along with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles on April 28. Ankae Games has worked on the game since 2019, when it started as a passion project and is a love letter to the games of the past. The studio was founded by independent developer Iván Ruiz Lozano in Barcelona, Spain. The game started as an idea, a retro adventure with systemic elements and more modern effects. He taught himself game development and began gathering funds to make this game a reality. Elementallis was successfully funded through a Kickstarter campaign that made a significant contribution to its eventual release.
The game is a top-down adventure where you battle to rescue the world from out-of-control elementals. It’s your fault that these elementals are causing chaos, meaning it falls to you to stop them. However, your journey will require you to use the power of the elements to your advantage. These powers help you solve puzzles, battle enemies, and locate secrets across the world. As you travel to different locations, you must help the world heal from your actions while also absolving yourself of guilt. The characters you meet and the experiences you have play a big role in achieving both objectives.

You fight enemies in real-time combat using your sword and shield, avoiding attacks while getting your own strikes in. Elements you have gathered can also be used offensively or defensively as necessary. Explore eight temples full of puzzles and secrets that also have challenging boss battles, testing everything you have learned. All temples are located in their own biomes with a variety of characters you can interact with. As you acquire more elements, re-explore these biomes with elements you have gathered to find paths you previously couldn’t access.
