Today’s the day. We previously reported that the Act III launch of Fortnite‘s ongoing Showdown event would coincide with the long-awaited Overwatch collaboration with the iconic battle royale – and now the heroes have arrived. Available in-game now, Overwatch heroes Tracer, Mercy, Genji and D.Va have dropped onto the island, and brought new loot with them. The timing aligns with the 10th anniversary of Overwatch, with celebrations starting earlier this week in Blizzard’s hero shooter.
Starting with the Shop purchases, four classic Overwatch heroes are available in a mega bundle for 4,200 V-Bucks, with each individual item also available to purchase separately without a discounted price. Alongside the four hero skins, Mercy’s comes with an additional style, based on her Devil Mercy skin from Overwatch‘s loot boxes. There’s also an Overwatch-themed Porsche Cayenne EV bundle, for those looking for some new wheels.

Let’s break down all the cosmetic options in the bundle. Mercy gets her Valkyrie Wings as both a Back Bling and a Glider, whilst her iconic Caduceus staff becomes her Pickaxe and a new emote recreates her iconic pose when she descends from the sky to heal her allies. Additionally, D.Va comes with mecha Tokki as both a Back Bling and redesigned into a sword for her Pickaxe – and her emote lets the player pose and take selfies whilst riding the robot.
As for Tracer and Genji, the speedster Tracer comes with an emote allowing her to blink and stretch, along with a Pulse Bomb Back Bling and Pulse Knives Pickaxe. Finally, Genji doesn’t get an emote, but has a perfectly recreated Ryū Ichimonji blade for his Pickaxe, which can also be sheathed as a Back Bling. Purchasing the bundle also rewards a Mercy-themed weapon wrap and loading screen!

When dropping onto the island, players can now find Tracer’s Pulse Pistols to spray enemies with bullets and blink away from the scene, all whilst having a first-person perspective to recreate the Tracer experience from Overwatch. There’s also Mercy’s Caduceus Staff, which can be used to heal and revive teammates, or to boost their damage when firing.
Finally, to complete the Overwatch experience, locations inspired by Busan Sanctuary, Hanamura’s Courtyard, King’s Row’s Tower and Watchpoint: Gibraltar bases have all been added to the map. The King’s Row location even has a Payload to escort that awards Overwatch loot. All this and more was added with today’s update, which also includes a revamped Zero Build mode with some major reworks to the gameplay.
