Xbox Announces Limited Edition Series X To Celebrate 25 Years Of Xbox

If you’ve been an Xbox fan since the early days, Microsoft’s latest announcement might excite you. During the recent Xbox Games Showcase, the company officially revealed the Xbox Series X25, a limited-edition console created to celebrate 25 years since the launch of the original Xbox in 2001.

The new console is a tribute to Xbox’s history and takes inspiration from one of the brand’s most iconic designs. Although the original Xbox launched in black in 2001, Microsoft later released a translucent green version that became a fan favorite. The Xbox Series X25 brings that look back with a translucent green shell that partially reveals the console’s internal components. The console features official “Xbox 25” anniversary branding on its front plates, while the famous front “X” logo lights up in green when powered on, a clear nod to the start-up of the original Xbox.

XBOX Wireless Controller X25
The price of the 25th Anniversary Edition Xbox console and controller has not been revealed yet.

However, it’s worth noting that despite the new design, there are no hardware upgrades. The Xbox Series X25 includes the same technical specifications as the standard Xbox Series X.

Alongside the console, Microsoft introduced the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, which also comes with several nostalgic touches. It brings back the classic colorful ABXY buttons from the original Xbox era, features black-and-white bumpers as a tribute to the 2001 Duke controller, and includes a transparent back case and battery cover that reveal a classic Xbox logo inside.

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition bundle, which includes the console and controller, will launch in November in select markets worldwide. Those interested in purchasing only the controller will be able to buy it separately starting in October. At the time of writing, Microsoft has not revealed pricing or exact pre-order dates for either product.
