Amazon Games Boss Says 007: First Light Sequel “Should Be Made”

After 007: First Light‘s successful launch, which sold 1.5 million copies in just 24 hours, many fans have been wondering whether the new James Bond game will get a sequel. Now, Amazon Games has responded to those questions and shared its thoughts on the future of the series.

Speaking about the future of the franchise, Amazon Games Boss Jeffrey Gattis suggested that a sequel is very likely. During an interview with IGN, he said, “Seems like a sequel should be made.” He also said that player demand will play a big role in that decision, adding, “As long as we feel there’s a desire for players to have the game, it’s safe to say it’s going to be made.”

Despite the strong hint that the series will continue, Gattis clarified that Amazon Game Studios has not officially been confirmed as the publisher of the next game. Addressing rumors that Amazon would take publishing responsibilities away from IO Interactive, Gattis said, “First of all, let me set the record straight for you. I did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one. Did not say that. So unfortunately, it got picked up, and once it runs, it runs. No, IO’s been great. They’ve been great partners.”

At the same time, Gattis said the team does not want to rush into a sequel. He said they are “going to be smart about this” and that fans should let the current game “breathe and have its day” before any major announcements about a sequel are made.

For now, IO Interactive is focused on supporting 007: First Light with a post-launch roadmap. Planned content includes a Story DLC expansion, a New Game+ mode, and additional updates in the coming months. For more 007: First Light-related coverage, keep checking GameObserver.
